April 29: Your real rehearsal for the August 12, 2026 eclipse

On April 29, the Sun will be in virtually the same position as it will be during the eclipse of August 12, 2026 : same height, same direction, same relationship with the horizon.

In other words:

👉 It's your dress rehearsal before the real event.

If you're wondering where to see the eclipse, this day allows you to check it out in real conditions.

Why does this happen?

It's not a coincidence. It's due to:

  • the Earth's orbit around the Sun

  • the tilt of the Earth's axis (~23.5°)

  • the time of day

At certain times of the year, these variables align in such a way that the Sun follows very similar paths across the sky . At the end of April and in mid-August, at the same time, the Sun appears in virtually the same position.

On April 29th you see the same scenario… only without the Moon in front.

What to do on April 29th (seriously)

It's not a walk in the park. It's a test.

1. Go exactly to your intended location

Position yourself where you plan to be on the day of the eclipse.

Check:

  • Is the horizon completely clear ?

  • Are there mountains, buildings, trees, or antennas?

  • At what altitude does the Sun disappear?

If the sun sets early → that place is useless.

2. Follow the sun until it sets

Look at:

  • Where exactly does it disappear?

  • What obstacles lie in that direction?

  • If there is haze or poor visibility near the horizon

3. Evaluate reality (not the pretty picture)

Many “perfect” sites fail because:

  • distant obstacles

  • difficult access

  • too many people

April 29th is when you discover it without consequences.

The real problem with the 2026 eclipse

In Murcia and much of the Costa Blanca, the eclipse occurs with the Sun very low .

This implies:

  • any obstacle can block it

  • the time margin is minimal

  • Visibility depends a lot on the horizon

👉 The best team doesn't win here. The best location wins.

Why the sea is the best option

From the sea you have:

  • completely clear horizon

  • without buildings or mountains

  • better visibility in lower layers

  • Less heat and fewer crowds

That's why we organize our experiences from:

  • Cartagena

  • Mar Menor

  • Torrevieja

Same position of the Sun as you will see on April 29, but with the actual eclipse.

How to prepare properly

âś” Check your location on April 29th âś” Arrive early on the day of the eclipse âś” Avoid improvising

âś” Use certified glasses according to ISO 12312-2

No ordinary sunglasses. No "I can handle it."

Security

Never look directly at the sun without adequate protection.

During this eclipse there will be no totality in this area, so the Sun will remain dangerous at all times.

Conclusion

April 29th is not just a sunset.

It's the moment when you decide whether you're going to see the eclipse... or miss it.

Because on August 12, when the sun is setting and the spectacle occurs, there will be no time to correct mistakes.

And sometimes, the difference between seeing it or not... is just a tree.
